Needle Files for Cleaning Vinyl
NEEDLE FILE SETS ~~ Needle files are useful for cleaning the "boogers" out of a doll's nose after you've made a hole in the vinyl. The files help you clean and smooth the edges to make the nose look soft and natural. Sometimes you just need the right tool for the job, and for nose jobs you need needle files.
These are 4.5 inch needle files. They are very small and you will need them when working with the small vinyl dolls. It's not easy to find these teeny files, we looked for them for a long time.
In this photo are 5.5 inch needle files, which work well for the big infant dolls.
These "blue" sets include ten needle files in assorted shapes such as flat, beveled, half round as well as the usual round files. These are very inexpensive needle files. I found others that were $75 a dozen at wholesale cost, so there is a considerable range in quality and price of needles files. -- Even though our files are inexpensive, they are very good for most craft projects.
DIAMOND NEEDLE FILE ~~
If you want a needle file that's a little better quality, this is a diamond needle file, round, in the 5.5 inch size. It has diamond dust on it for abrasive, (which doesn't show very much in the photo.)
LARGE NEEDLE FILES ~~
This set of needle files is 7 inches and they are larger than any of the others. They are useful for sanding larger areas on the vinyl, such as the scalp. I wouldn't use these to sand the whole head, but they're good for wearing down a stubborn spot or smoothing out a few bumps.
