These doll joints are very easy to use. Each joint consists of three pieces: the spoke piece which has the knob sticking out of it, and a washer piece which slides easily onto the spoke, and a locking piece which locks onto the spoke and holds the pieces together.

The spoke piece goes inside the cloth arm or leg of the doll. Make a small hole for the spoke to come out and then push the spoke into the doll body through another small hole where the arm or leg needs to be.

So, now the spoke is inside the doll body. Slide the washer onto the spoke and then the locking cap. Push the pieces together firmly. The arm or leg will be anchored to the body. Very Easy!

If you make a mistake, you can take the plastic joint apart by using a large flat blade screwdriver and pliers but it requires some tugging and pulling and the joint pieces will be ruined. You will need to use another set when you try again.

HELPFUL HINT: If the joints tend to be loose or floppy, try to tighten them further. Or, slide one or two small rubber bands onto the arm or leg of the doll and slide the rubber bands up into the joint. This little trick will usually make the joint snug enough to hold positions.

I've been learning about doll joints. Every craft store I've visited (online or local) gets their joints from the same supplier. You can tell because the part numbers all have PW, such as PW65, PW55 etc. And, I initially stocked these same joints also. But I was having problems with loose swingy joints and the locking cap wouldn't stay down tight, it had a tendency to slip.

And THEN, the craft supplier stopped shipping for two whole months due to inventory and computer problems so in desperation I found another source for a different kind of doll joint, which is what I have in the shop now. And, I am going to continue to stock this other kind, because so far they seem to hold a much tighter joint and the locking cap does not slip. These joints cost a bit more, but not much more and I think the better performance is really worth it.
