Berenguer Dolls

The reborn artists are using the Berenguer dolls as "doll kits". The vinyl parts are removed from the doll and the original doll body is salvaged for parts (such as bean bags and stuffing) and then what's left of the original body is discarded.

Because these are not real "doll kits" there weren't any cloth doll bodies that were specifically for the Berenguer dolls. Therefore, finding an appropriate cloth body for the reborn dolls has been a problem.

The photo above shows an ethnic cloth body (jointed) with cable ties inserted. It is easy to attach the doll's vinyl arms and legs to the body. Just stick them in the holes and pull the cable ties so they are snug but still able to turn the arms/legs a little bit.

You can purchase Apple Valley doll bodies which are made like the doll body shown above. Diane Irey sells Apple Valley doll bodies and she knows which ones are more popular for use with the Berenguer dolls.

Or, some ladies make their own cloth bodies. There have been many creative ideas and solutions for doll bodies. And, there are ladies who make and sell cloth bodies that are specially designed for the Berenguer dolls.

There are so many Berenguer dolls, in many sizes, that choosing a doll and then a doll body can be very confusing. These patterns do include bodies for most of the Berenguer dolls, in five different sizes. The patterns can also be used for dolls other than Berenguer.

20" and 16" LaBaby Cloth & Vinyl dolls:

These two dolls were originally made with a cloth body, which has since been replaced with these custom jointed doll bodies. The vinyl arms and legs are designed for attachment to a cloth body so there is no problem when you replace the original cloth body with a different one.  

17" and 14" Lots to Love All-Vinyl Dolls:

These two chubby dolls are wearing NEW cloth bodies that were designed especially for the all vinyl Lots to Love dolls. Arms, legs and head are easily attached with cable ties.

There is a problem in using the all vinyl dolls for reborns, because the neck is not designed for a cloth body. You can solve that problem by using the original vinyl doll body to create a shoulder plate for the head to attach to. Or, you can buy a custom replacement neck designed by PrillyCharmin.  

17" La Newborn Moments Doll Bodies...

The Berenguer 17" La Newborn Moments also have all-vinyl bodies. This cloth body replaces the vinyl one. Arms, legs, and head are held on with narrow cable ties. Again, you will need a shoulderplate or a custom replacement neck in order to attach the head to the cloth body. Here is a photo of the custom doll necks, in two sizes.
