The face mold were new in 2004 and the same face has been used since. The dolls have rooted hair rather than wigs: Gotz made that change with the 2004 series. Precious Day dolls are made in China for Gotz. The Precious Day Collection by Gotz are made like the American girl dolls with an articulated (jointed) cloth body and vinyl arms, legs and head. The hair is rooted. The Precious Day girls are 18" tall and AG clothes do fit them. In fact, Gotz was the original manufacturer for the Pleasant Valley American Girl dolls. The American Girls are manufactured by Mattel now, but the relationship between the dolls is still obvious in their similar construction. NOTE: everyone had the impression that Gotz was going out of business in 2003, but
actually they closed down their European factory and their US Distribution center. They will continue to make their Play Dolls series, which are manufactured in China. The quality is the same: Gotz was making the play dolls in China even before they drastically revamped their company. So there is no difference in the quality of their playdolls: they are beautiful. |
