These two lovely girls were designed by Helen Kish. They have an amazing retail price of only $24.98, which is incredible because Helen Kish dolls are usually priced at $125 to $600 and sometimes more. There are some differences in these two dolls of course. The clothing doesn't fit very good and the narrow white tube dress makes Jennifer look like a spaghetti doll. Nicole's vest is unfinished on the edges.

At first I was disappointed in the dolls, but once I took the outfits off I decided that they really are made very well.

The vinyl is absolutely beautiful, there's nothing substandard about the vinyl or it's paint. The fingernails and toenails are lightly blushed, and the face paint is perfect and beautiful. The sculpted detail of the vinyl pieces is delicate and graceful. The cloth body is well made. The head is jointed at the neck so it turns and tilts for pretty poses.

The dolls are slender pre-teen dolls and their slim long bodies make me want to design ballerina dresses for them. The original 14" Betsy McCall by Tonner is also a slim graceful doll: Jennifer & Nicole remind me of her.

The wigs on these dolls are ok. Nicole's blonde hair is straight and stiff. The beads are glued on the top of Jennifer's head.

For people who enjoy doing dolly makeovers, I think Jennifer and Nicole are a real "find" for the crafters. These inexpensive dolls are genuine Kish: where it counts, they have the quality they need. Wigs and clothing are easily replaced.

That's why we have designed a "Basic Dress" Pattern for these dolls. Nicole is modeling our dress. We were mainly interested in achieving a perfect fit. The pattern is exactly as you see here: it's a smooth fit in the bodice and the sleeves just cover the cloth part of her arms. The dress length is just below the cloth knee.

The pattern includes bloomers in two lengths, so the pattern can be used for long pants as well as bloomers. We know that experienced seamstresses can revise this basic pattern easily to create other fashions. The hard part is getting the shape and size to fit correctly. We've done that for you.

Jennifer & Nicole are not intended to be playdolls for children. They are meant for display, but since they are vinyl dolls and the body construction seems to be good and sturdy, older children can probably enjoy them as playdolls. The only concern might be the wire armature inside the body.
